Jim Kempner Fine Art specializes in contemporary art in all media, with a special emphasis on contemporary master prints. Our inventory appeals to both the established as well as beginning collector.

Formerly a private dealer, Jim Kempner opened his gallery, Jim Kempner Fine Art, in Soho in September, 1994 and moved its present location in the heart of Chelsea in the fall of 1997. Designed by architects Smith & Thompson, the critically acclaimed modernist-inspired structure of glass and Cor-ten steel is included in a number of books about contemporary architecture, and has attracted attention from all over the world. Robert Indiana, Keith Haring, Isamu Noguchi, and Bernar Venet are among the artists whose work has been exhibited in our outdoor sculpture garden, one of the few in New York.

Our inventory of contemporary master prints includes artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Chuck Close, Richard Diebenkorn, Jim Dine, Helen Frankenthaler, Jane Hammond, Howard Hodgkin, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Ellsworth Kelly, Jeff Koons, Robert Mangold, Robert Motherwell, Sol Lewitt, Thomas Nozkowski, Elizabeth Peyton, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Ed Ruscha, Paula Scher, Donald Sultan, Andy Warhol, Terry Winters, and others.

Among the contemporary artists whose work we represent are Jay Kelly; Greg Parker; Carole Feuerman; Charlie Hewitt; Eduardo del Valle & Mirta Gómez; Tanja Alexia Hollander; Robert Peterson; George Tobolowsky; Pal Svensson; Steve Giovinco; Rinaldo Frattolillo; Jonathan Santlofer; and Craig Norton.

In addition to the gallery, Jim Kempner has published prints by Charlie Hewitt and photographs by Gianfranco Gorgoni of Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty. Other recent publications include Ligorano/Reese’s Line Up portfolio, Untitled 2001 silkscreen and the DEMOCRACY light box, done in collaboration with Dru Arstark, gallery director, under the name of Madness of Art Editions.
