This is the first year of a special benefit preview party for the Capital Art Fair. We are pleased that all proceeds of the opening night will benefit the Georgetown University Library Special Collections Research Center. The library, with its extensive collections of original prints and other artwork, as well as rare books and manuscripts, is one of the great primary source research centers. The fine print collection contains more than 14,000 items, with particular strengths in American twentieth century. The collection was assembled by the late Rev. Joseph A. Haller, S.J., who served as curator and then emeritus curator for some three decades. It features in-depth holdings of works by notables such as Grace Albee, John Taylor Arms, Thomas Hart Benton, Werner Drewes, Isac Friedlander, Joseph Pennell, Prentiss Taylor and Lynd Ward. Those attending the benefit opening will receive a Collecting to Teach catalogue from the Father Haller memorial exhibition (2009-2010). The exhibition is also viewable online: Collecting to Teach: The Extraordinary Legacy of Joseph A. Haller, S.J.
